This afternoon the staff returned from their overnight hikes. They were fortunate to have nice weather -- even if it was a bit hot. Everyone came back into camp upbeat, pleased with the trip, and in need of a shower. Jimmy, an Iroquois Village counselor, woke up early this morning to take a sunrise picture of Middle Settlement Lake.
Middle Settlement is a small, pristine lake in the wilderness area to the west of Old Forge. The campsite has an Adirondack lean-to facing the lake. The distance and rigor of the hike make it an ideal beginners experience for young campers.
